Send the BLM your Comment by August 23: Protect Federal Lands From Fracking
The Obama Administration recently proposed a new rule for hydraulic fracturing on public and Indian lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) — including those in the national forest system and federal lands that are nearby many cherished national parks.
Nearly 36 million acres of federal land are leased to the oil and gas industry spanning across 24 states. Opening these vast and treasured spaces to fracking would exacerbate climate change, endanger public health and natural resources, and threaten existing industries incompatible with an industrialized landscape (tourism, outdoor recreation, food and beverage industry, etc.).
Tell President Obama and Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell that fracking is not the answer for meeting our energy needs, and federal and Indian lands should not be sacrificed to the oil and gas industry! The Bureau of Land Management is currently seeking comments for its proposed rule. The deadline for submitting comments is August 23. Please visit the American Sustainable Business Council website for instructions on how to take action now!
